MAY 13, 2008
The session was called to order at 0900 by L. Walker
Mr. Walker introduced everyone to everyone and proceeded to give a brief recap of the Goals and Objectives from the first session in 2004.
He then reviewed the definitions of the words Goal and Objective.
GOAL – the objective toward which an endeavor is directed.
OBJECTIVE – something worked toward or aspired to.
The group then began to discuss each task that was on the original list.

Recruitment and Retention of Fire Department Volunteers
At this point, the Assistant Chief, Tom Forster presented a paper that he and Chief Castagnetti had prepared outlining the Goals that the Fire Department wishes to attain over the next few years. It was titled the “Fire Department Strategic Plan”. After presentation, it was decided by the group that the plan would be incorporated into the Goals. Also was the decision to incorporate task numbers 2, 5 & 7 under this heading. These were recruitment and retention, assure citizens of our ability to respond to natural disasters and work to lower the ISO fire rating.
Improving District Water Services
Maintain effective communications with PECSD customers
Ensure the best possible quality of life in the PECSD (it was later decided that this particular language was addressed in the Mission Statement and was dropped from the Goals list). This was replaced with “Develop and foster recreational opportunities for our residents.”
