1) Volunteer Firefighters - These positions require that an applicant be in good physical health and condition, and able to perform under emergency conditions and sometimes strenuous and stressful circumstances. A willingness to train regularly,

2) Volunteer Fire Corps Members - We have opportunities t o help the fire department in non-emergency roles. This allows our first responders to focus their efforts on being prepared for and responding to the most critical, life-threatening situations. We are seeking help in these areas:

■ Serve in our department’s auxiliary, conducting two pancake breakfast fund raisers each year.

■ Disaster planning and preparedness programs.

■ Promoting fire safety and prevention.

■ Back up support during major events when response agencies may be overwhelmed.

■ Help write grant applications

■ Organize and help with fundraising activities.

■ Develop informational newsletters to include fire safety & prevention messages.

■ Vehicle and equipment maintenance.

What does it mean to be a volunteer firefighter?

For some it is a way to give back to our community, others a way into a career, and others a way to meet friends. It’s responding at any time of night or day to emergencies. It’s training regularly, and learning new skills. It’s the challenge of remembering how to cut apart a car or gain access to a burning home. It’s seeing your neighbors sometimes at their worst and looking to you to help them through an event that will last forever in their memory. It’s also participating in occasional fund-raising activities, and serving in non-emergency roles when needed.
