Volunteer Recruitment

Requirements:  To be a volunteer  firefighter you will be required to become certified in California State Volunteer Firefighter I, and Emergency Medical Services First Responder, along with other courses.

We ask that you attend the annual Quincy Fire Academy, open to all Plumas County firefighters every April. It is 40 hours of hands-on training, conducted over five Saturdays. You will be provided this and other regular training as a Plumas Eureka Fire Department volunteer.

Time Requirements:  The hours you dedicate as a firefighter start with weekly, 3-hour evening training sessions on Wednesday nights.

In addition, we offer supplemental training on some weekends and occasional evenings. We respond to approximately sixty (60) calls per year, and most are EMS in nature.

The time spent as a Fire Corps member will vary, and is very flexible.
