Make a folder for papers. This is the outside of the folder made using a piece of crazy patch denim with fancy machine stiching along some of the seams. Once you get your pieces cut out, sew it together using a zig zag stitch. Don't sew and then try to turn the piece as it will make it to thick...just pin in place (with the right sides showing...the way you want it to look once it is done) and go around the whole piece with the zig zag stitch. |
This is the inside of the denim folder. Using a
piece of denim that is more narrow for the bottom...so you can fit in
your papers. This is made like the folders children have to hold school
papers. These folders work really great for holding and organizing your
papers too. I made this one to hold a chapter of the denim book I wrote,
along with samples of the denim work from that chapter. Worked great!!!

Thread saved when you rip denim apart. Use the long
raveled out thread to use to crochet buttons or make tassels. You can
add the tassels around buttons for decorations on jackets or vests.
Or you can sew them onto whatever you want to decorate with them. You
could also use the tassels as bookmarks. |
Close up of beads attached to the tassel. Use thin
wire and fold in half...then add a charm to the end (at the fold). Then
thread both ends of the wire through beads. Then attach the wire to
the denim thread that is doubled (at the fold). Wrap the wire around
several times and hide the ends. Then take a long piece of thin wire
and wrap around above that to hold it all in place. |

This is a crocheted button made with thread taken
from raveled out denim (long pieces of thread). You will have to tie
ends together as you go to make a long enough piece of thread to make
a button. As you crochet you can hide the tied ends by just crocheting
over the top of them. There is also a loop on the back of this button
so it can be sewn onto whatever you wish. You could also make a flat
one like this and just sew it on through the center of the button. |
Heart applique made from a piece of denim. Draw
on your pattern then cut it out. Then use fabric paint and go around
the edge after you have cut out the piece. This will keep it from fraying
out when you attach it to whatever you wish to decorate with it. I also
put a thin layer of fabric paint over the entire piece...then made a
little design on that. Let dry at least 24 hours before you try to work
with the applique and probably 48 hours would be better. |
